The St. Louis High School Pom Pons team is going to the state meet Feb. 15! The team has had an amazing season and state could not be a better way to show it off.
The team has put in so much effort at the competitions and at home basketball games. Freshman Izzy Bass expressed, “I have felt excited, overwhelmed, and happy. The team has a good bond and is very encouraging. How I felt when we made state it was very exciting. I shed some tears, and it was a very fun experience. I’m excited to compete. I’m not very nervous about it. I might be more nervous once we go out to perform.”
Coaches Kaydee Komperda, Elizabeth Burt, and Angela Cross, have done an excellent job coaching the girls and encouraging them to be the very best they can be. The environment of practices, and also performances have been an enjoyable experience for the team, and watching them perform at the basketball games has been enjoyable for fans as well. They’ve improved, and persevered throughout this season.
This year, Sophomore Sydney Dickman decided to join the poms team. She stated, “I have felt good this season; it has been very fun! I was happy when we made it to states, and was really proud that we made it. I am pretty nervous, but know that we will do good!”
Kaylie Lassen is a junior and has been on the Poms team the longest. She said, “I felt this season was strong and united and everyone got along. Our team was astounded when we heard our name called to move forward to states. I’m really excited to see how it will go. Our team is getting stronger each and every day and I have faith we will do amazing.”
The state meet will be held in Ypsilanti Feb. 15, and the Sharks plan to try their best and give it their all.
