The St.Louis High School JV boys’ basketball team competed at home in it’s first game of the season, against Ogemaw Heights High School.
It was a great game for the Sharks. The score was 40 to 23 with the Sharks taking the win. While all players did a fantastic job, that night one player especially gave it his all. Freshman Merrick Brock scored 18 out of 40 points.
JV coach Danny Buegar explains, “We started the game off strong and got up by 16 points in the first half.” He continues, “We ended the game strong as well. Similar to the start, we went on a big run late to get our lead back to 15 points that we had lost in the third quarter.”
Buegar also says he believes they have a lot of potential this year and is proud about the end results.
Buegar says, “I expect to end up being the team that everyone who watches can see that we are disciplined and don’t quit no matter who we play, or the circumstances. I expect us to play in a way that people can’t help but root for us, because of how hard we are working as a unit, win or lose.”
So far, the JV boys basketball team shows great potential this year. It is a breath of fresh air after not having a team last school year. The team plays Standish Sterling in Standish, December 12, at 5:30 p.m., and seems to be prepared for what’s to come.
