The Rotary Gala took place Nov. 7, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Zehnder’s Marketplace in Frankenmuth. Ms. Godwin and the St. Louis High School Rotary Club attended it.
The Rotary Gala is an event where rotary groups come together to present awards and recognize achievements. They also discuss different projects and ways the rotary could support communities.
Rotary began Feb. 23, 1905, in Chicago when attorney Paul P. Harris founded the first club to foster professional fellowship and community service. The organization grew rapidly, with its name coming from the practice of rotating meeting locations among members’ offices. By 1912, it became an international organization with a club in Canada and adopted the name Rotary International in 1922. Today, it is a global service organization with over 1.4 million members in more than 33,000 clubs worldwide and since 2022 our High School Rotary Club is one of them.
Ms. Godwin said, “It’s always a great opportunity for students to learn and experience new ideas and to socialize with a variety of people.” She further added, “The food is amazing and it really is a great group bonding experience.”
Tiger Russell, one of the rotary members, thinks, “One of the best things about the Rotary Gala is the good food.” He also mentioned that, “We were the biggest group at the Rotary Gala with 38 people.”
Together the St. Louis High School Rotary Group accomplished many things already in this school year. A few examples are the Purple Pinky Fundraiser to help with Polio research and they also helped with the harvest fest at the middle school.
Altogether, the Rotary meeting brings different Rotary Groups together, where each can exchange ideas while eating good food.
