The St. Louis boys bowling team competed at Meadow Lanes in Gladwin Jan. 15, 2025 and ended up winning against Sanford-Meridian with a score of 21-9.
The team played hard at the match, rolling high scores against the other team. Sophomore Merick Bartlett bowled well, rolling a 230 and a 174 for the match. “I mostly need to work on form, consistency, and staying out of my head,” stated Bartlett. Bartlett loves to compete, and is looking forward to the rest of the season with his team. He continued, “I love the adrenaline coming into even just a regular match. I love that I get to bowl for just bettering myself in competition.”
Sophomore Thailan Raby also had some comments on the match, stating, “I did okay at the match, wishing I could have done better. The team played fairly well, there is some room for improvement. I need to work on keeping my head up and hitting my mark more consistently and standing up straight.” As for the remainder of the season, Raby said, “I feel pretty good for the upcoming matches, I just have to stay focused and do what I need to get done during practice and the matches.”
The boys bowling team has also had some great accomplishments already this year, with a few individuals earning achievements for high-scoring games at matches so far this season. Michael Mitchell, Thailan Raby, and Merick Bartlett all received recognition for their high scores thus far.
Overall, the team played well and came out with a victory against Sanford-Meridian. The team will continue to practice and improve leading up to the regional competition, which takes place in February.
Both the boys and girls bowling teams will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 18 at Riverwood Lanes in Mount Pleasant.
