Sabrina Carpenter’s new album, Short n’ Sweet released after a long wait and tons of build up and hype, with insane numbers and topped the charts on August 23, 2024.
After a long wait Sabrina’s new album Short n’ Sweet resulted in a firework of praise and love. Many dubbed it, “the songs of the summer” with hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” hitting top of the charts! Her song “Espresso” debuted at number ten on the Billboard Global 200 chart, becoming Carpenter’s first top-ten hit and after a week it topped the chart immediately! Right after her hit “Espresso,” she released her song “Please Please Please,” which immediately trumped “Espresso”’s success by topping the charts in not just the United States, but also Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, and the United Kingdom. The rest of the songs in her album were very successful, with all reaching over 10 million listens across all music streaming, yet none managed to reach the cultural recognition and praise from critics like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” had.
The common consensus of the album is very positive. Sophomore Lily Wing stated that she, “Listened to “Espresso” every morning when it first released because it always got her so excited for the day!” According to Metacritic, a website that aggregates reviews of films, television shows, music albums, Short n’ Sweet received universal acclaim based on an average score of 82 out of 100 from 17 music critics.
Sabrina has also used many celebrity cameos in her songs for the Short n’ Sweet album in order to draw more attention to them. For example, one of the songs released in the album, “Taste,” had Jenna Ortega, best known for her role in Scream 6 and Beetlejuice BeetleJuice, make a celebrity cameo in the music video. On top of Ortega’s cameo, Carpenter had celebrity and boyfriend Berry Keoghan, most known for his role in Saltburn, star in one of her most popular songs on the album, “Espresso.”
The future of Sabrina’s is very bright after this outstanding performance from her newest album, and hopefully we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for another!
