The St. Louis cheer team is selling flowers for Valentine’s Day, starting Monday, Jan. 22, for students to enjoy the Valentine’s Day spirit! The cheer team has done this exciting fundraiser before, to much success. The team will have a selection of roses and carnations available, in different quantities. The flowers will be delivered to the office Friday, Feb. 9.
Senior cheerleader Jaycee Best has participated in this fundraiser before, and is very excited to do it again this year. “I am very excited to do it again. I think the sale will be very successful this year,” shared Best. She continued by saying, “I think people are more excited about it this year, now that they know it comes again every year.”
Not only are the cheerleaders excited to do the sale, though, but the students of St. Louis High School are as well! Senior Olivia Good commented, “It’s super fun to just receive the flowers, because it’s happy! Like, ‘I got a flower!’” Good continued, saying, “I think it would be fun to give the flowers as well, but my significant other doesn’t go to this school, so I don’t think it’ll be something I’m looking forward to as far as receiving or getting flowers.”
One thing that everyone agrees on, though, is that the flower sales are a way to cheer up the dull month of February. Best stated, “I love getting to pass out the flowers to everyone and see how happy everyone gets.” Good agreed with this statement, saying, “I love seeing all the people’s faces when they get their flowers during the classes I’m in. It’s such a fun thing.”
There’s also the element of surprise that comes with the flower sales. It’s interesting to see flowers being delivered and wondering, “Who bought those flowers?” It’s always fun to speculate about secret admirers. Plus, it’s fun for the cheerleaders to try and guess who the flowers are going to, based on who purchased them. “I always try to guess who is receiving them,” joked Best.
February can be a dull month, and Valentine’s Day can be a polarizing holiday. With the flower sales, though, one can’t help but smile and have fun. Whether buying flowers for yourself, a friend, or that special someone, talk to a cheerleader in order to put your order in on flowers!
