St. Louis High School’s Future Farmers of America is holding a freeze-dried candy sale as a fundraiser from Oct. 2 through Nov. 17. The fundraiser is to support the student’s costs for trips such as conventions, competitions, and other FFA activities. The sales will also benefit a local small business that FFA partnered with, called Fairah’s Freeze Dried Treats, which is located in Elwell, MI.
Agricultural teacher and FFA leader, Mrs. DeGroft said, “The freeze-dried candy sale is taking place this year, instead of the fruit and nut sale FFA has had in the past. While we may return to the fruit and nut sale in the future, the freeze-dried candy is something new and exciting FFA members wanted to try!”
Students have lots of choices between the multiple candy options that come in a small $5 size or a large $10 size. The $5 size is only available in the Fariah dust option which is Nerds and a sucker. The large $10 bag includes the choices of Rainbow Crunch (Skittles), Asteroids (Jolly Ranchers), Starbursts, and Super Asteroids (Nerd clusters). The most exciting items being sold are the freeze-dried gummy Sharks, which were custom-made to support SLHS homecoming!
There are lots of ways for students to pay for the candy. One option is scanning the QR code that’s located on posters spread throughout the school or on Facebook. After scanning the code one can pay via Venmo, Cash App, or Paypal. Just make sure to include name, phone number, and the quantity of candy wanted. If this option doesn’t appeal to buyers, they can simply head on down to Room 004 in the high school during non-class hours and pay directly with cash!
Students are encouraged to head to Room 004 or ask any FFA member for more information.
