Recently in the Shark Tank, the wrestling team fought hard for two win against Millington and Carrollton, Jan. 11. The final scores of the day were 47-28 against Millington and 70-12 out Carrollton.

Millington is one of SLHS’ league rival, so this is a great accomplishment for the Sharks. The Sharks knew that they had to do everything in their power to win that dual. One person that stuck out was Udter Tweh who had a great match at 175 by not giving up during his match and losing by decision. This led to the team getting hyped and excited which pushed Justice Onstott, Ray Fyre, and Ramon Anguiano to come through with huge pins. The Sharks ran away down low with awesome pins at 106, 113, and 120 which helped push them to their win.

Coach Kevin Kuhn expressed, “The final was 47-28 and we could have wrestled better in the middle where we gave up pins. After the Millington match, we wrestled Carrollton and beat them 70-12. Then during the handshake, there was a skirmish. I was proud of how our team and coaching staff as well as parents handled the situation.”

“All in all, it was a big relief to get the Millington match out of the way and for us to come out on top. One of our only two losses was to Freeland who Millington beat earlier this season. We are now 4-0 in the league,” said Kuhn.

Sophomore Wrestler Trenton Farkas also expressed, “Our team did great. We had our ups and downs but we can come out on top.”

The Sharks were in action Saturday at the Alma duals and took second going 4-1, Jan. 14!
