The varsity girls’ golf team took the championship at the Sacred Heart Invitational Oct.  8, at the Mount Pleasant Country Club.

According to Starr Hansen, “I think playing in this tournament is really going to help us for regionals. We got to learn the course and take notes on each and every hole. I’m really hoping we do great on Friday and finally accomplish our main goal. We have dreamed of this for three years now, and we have prepared enough to where I think now is our time.”

The play at this course was a great eye opener for the regional. The girls have had this outstanding goal of making it to the state meet all year and are one step closer to achieving it. There was excellent weather and course conditions, which they took advantage of it. The girls overall took first with an outstanding score of 380, and beat their rival, Shepherd by 10 strokes. Additionally, there were five medalists at the end of the day. Alexis Beeson led the pack with a 94. Hansen and Skylar Rodriguez tied for sixth shooting a 95. Modestie Hitchcock and Allison Taipalus also tied for eighth and shot a 96.

The Lady Sharks are hoping to come out victorious Friday, Oct. 12, at the Mt. Pleasant Country Club. If the girls finish in the top three, they will make history and make it to the state tournament.
