The St. Louis Volleyball team played in the Beal City invite Saturday Sept. 15, taking first in their pool then falling short to Beal City in the semifinals.

Senior Megan Greenup said, “We overcame a lot of sickness and struggles and played hard together.” Greenup also said, “I would say we all played really well, but Goodell had a strong attacking day. She led the team all day and as the day went on, her swings got better. Greenup also had some great digs and passes throughout the day. Roberson and Sherwood were consistent in their swings, which helps in a big way. Hrabal did a good job putting the ball down and staying consistent also.” Working together as a team helped the lady sharks to grab a few wins in the invite.

In pool play, the sharks beat Fowler 25-15, 25-18, Meridian 25-18, 25-17, and split with host Beal City 19-25, 25-23. After they beat Breckenridge 25-12, 25-13, they advanced into the semifinals and then played Beal City. The sharks lost to Beal City 25-13, 8-25, 11-15.

Greenup added, “One thing we can improve on is remembering the team aspect of the game. None of us could do it alone. We sometimes take each other for granted, and that’s when we fall apart. We just need to play in the moment and stay connected on the court.”
