The guys and girls cross country team competed Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Corunna Early Bird Invite, ultimately coming home with a win on both sides.

This was a brand new course for the Sharks. It was mostly flat with one long gradual hill, and a double loop course. Many of the runners commented that it was a similar course to Shepard. Most athletes were happy with their races.

Jaiden Dickman said, “The race went by quickly and all of the girls ran really well to come away with the win! I can’t wait to see how we improve moving forward in the season.”

This was only the second meet of the season for the sharks. It showcased many talented athletes.

Coach Puffpaff said “It was a great day at Corunna yesterday. Really pleased with the growth that we are seeing from our first race to the second. We are going to continue to improve and grow through the season, but being able to come home with victories on both sides is a big confidence boost for our team.”

Many athletes were in the top ten. Four of the boys were in the top ten finishers. This included Ben March who took second (17:18.04), Landon Pestrue third place (17:49.12), Dylan Marr fifth (18:06.50), and Alex Rodriguez who snuck in tenth place with a time of 19:99.16. On the girls’ side, the ladies snuck three girls into the top ten. Jaiden Dickman took first with a time of 20:22.68, Abby Dice had an outstanding race with a finish time of 22:27.57, and Natalie Lemert took ninth with a time of 23:13.99. The sharks will be back in action Sept. 7, at 5:15 P.M.  in Sheperd.
