The Sharks competed well this weekend in Leslie’s Todd Stern Invitational during which they gathered 10 medals and a third place team finish.

There were 18 other teams at the tournament. St. Louis finished behind Napoleon and division four, second ranked New Lothrop. On a high note, Martine Wiggins ended up taking the first place spot in the 145-pound bracket.  Coach Kevin Kuhn commented, “Martine Wiggins continues to get better every week. He is the most consistent wrestler in our lineup. He is completely fearless every time he’s on the mat.” This is the kind of kid fans want to see on the mat.

Throughout the day, there were many great matches. Individuals and their finishing place on the night include; Craigg Bebow fifth,  Braden Ball fifth, Nate March second, Josh Dew fourth, Martine Wiggins first, Conner Daniels third, Justice Onstott second, Colin Kuhn second, Nato Soto fourth, and Ben Dousuah fourth. This was quite the day for the Sharks. As Colin Kuhn, stated, “The team has come away with the realization that we need to finish out in our tournaments and that we can’t just wrestle to the finals but must wrestle through the finals”

The Sharks will wrap up their conference season this Saturday, Feb 5. Before then, the Sharks will be back on the mat again Wednesday, Feb. 2, in their home gym against Bay-City John Glenn and Chippewa Hills.
