Rest easy to the original Angry Birds

As young adults, people remember the famous childhood mobile game, Angry Birds. The removal of the original app was July 2019, causing fans to be devastated after being run for a little under 10 years. Although they kept some of the later versions, the original version is now making a comeback.

As of June 22, 2020, Rovio’s official Twitter account posted about bringing back some of the old games. In their post they wrote, “We hear you! (sorry it took us so long!). We’re fully committed to making our raving fans happy, and we are starting work on bringing some of our old Angry Birds games back…” Then they attached a link to their official website, where they wrote a letter to their fans.

Their letter included many facts about how much they loved the support the company received and also spoke of how they understood they let the fans down. In their letter, they said “..but then, we took them out of circulation, and didn’t say anything and that let you down.” They continued informing fans of their whereabouts and reasoning with, “the thing is, maintaining the highest quality of updates and live operations isn’t possible with our old games.” Rovio explained that they planned on creating new games, and that the old games were too out of date to do anything about them.

Junior Colton Markwell said, “I am happy for those fans who still play the game. It was a good game when I was a child,” Markwell finished with, “I do not play many video games, so I am not necessarily excited to play it, but I’m glad they are returning.”

Rovio ended their letter, “We want to say: We are working on it! We will find a way to bring these classic experiences back to you.” The company has not explained their plan, but have explained they will be working on it to “make their fans happy.”
