In 2019 the movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, came out on Netflix. This documentary-like movie was based off of the book, The Phantom Prince: My Life With Ted Bundy, written by Elizabeth Kemper, who was Bundy’s former girlfriend. This movie was very accurate and a close representation of the book. There are many other shows and documentaries on Ted Bundy, but this movie was such a good look into how Bundy affected others.

According to Bryan Alexander, an author at USA Today, “Berlinger has taken criticism for making Bundy a sex symbol by casting Efron, who not only resembles Bundy, but captures the killer’s powerful and dangerous charm.” Zac Efron was also hesitant to play Bundy in this movie. When explaining why he chose Efron for the part Alexander stated, “‘Bundy had this appeal,” says Berlinger. “’What I’m portraying is the psychological power that he had over others. And Ted lured women to their deaths because he gave off this vibe of being trusted.’”

Evelynn Gutierrez, a sophomore at St. Louis High School, stated, “I just watched this movie for the first time this weekend, but it was actually really good, and I’m glad I watched it.” This movie captured who Ted Bundy was very well. Viewers were able to see just how charming and loveable he was in others eyes. Gutierrez also stated, “One of the best things about this movie was that I didn’t know some of the smaller details, and I really liked that the movie was so accurate.” This movie is definitely something to watch if you’re interested in true crime.
