Now that everyone has been wearing masks everywhere, people have been choosing what types they prefer both for fashion and comfort. Students at St. Louis High School are no exception when it comes to having to wear masks.

At SLHS, students tend to wear the regular blue surgical masks when they forget their own at their house. The blue masks are also just more popular as well and seem to be somewhat easier to buy in bigger amounts.

However, kids also like to find other masks that can even make them feel like they are expressing themselves. Similar to people wearing the clothing of their choice, masks can be a nice way to at least have an outlet for students to show their own sense of style.

According to Courtney Campbell from USA Today, a simple homemade mask off of Etsy has been one of the most popular mask purchases. Homemade masks have been very popular due to being able to make your own pattern or choose your own style.

Kierstin Wenzlick, a sophomore at SLHS stated, “In all honesty, I tend to forget my mask a lot of the times when I’m in a rush, so I normally wear the blue medical masks.” Wenzlick also stated, “Some of my favorite types of masks are the ones that are designed with cute animations or movie-inspired designs.” Wenzlick isn’t the only one who likes having fun designs to spruce up her outfits.

There are other masks from places such as Vera Bradly, Gucci or Louis Vuittion that are more expensive and decorated with signature brands. There is a knit face mask at Louis Vuttion for $355. Masks such as these aren’t very popular in the schools due to the fact that they are very expensive. However, students have admitted that even if the more expensive masks were cheap, they probably still wouldn’t buy them since they’re typically made of normal mask materials.
