Mrs. Cahoon’s passion is powerlifting.

A wife, mom, sister, friend, school counselor; these are just a few positions portrayed by Mrs. Cahoon. She has worked at St. Louis Public Schools for three years. Surprisingly, she is also a powerlifter. She said, “I love lifting because it really gives me something to look forward to. It’s my self-care. I also love to show women that they too can be strong and powerful.”

Out of five powerlifting competitions, Cahoon prefers to participate in two of the smaller categories, and has earned first and second place finishes. She competed in the Lex-Artis Barbell Classic three times, Port Huron Crossfit Powerlifting Competition, and Crossfit Worthy Barbell Competition. Cahoon expects this year to compete in a weightlifting event certified by the United States. She explained, “I am coming back from a knee injury, not lifting related, and so time will tell….”

Cahoon gushed, “I love powerlifting and Olympic lifting. When I was about 32 years old, I really began crossfit training. I’ve always been an athlete but it’s been declining for a while because I became a mother. But I recognized I wanted to be part of a competitive team in my life. I had to get it back. Crossfit brought me back to my life, which strengthened just about every aspect of my life as I was a happier person and a better mom. I was able to develop the barbell motions from Crossfit, and I began to focus on it for about a year and a half.” She claimed her maxes are: 325 pounds for back squat, 370 pounds for deadlift, 150 pounds for bench press, 195 pounds for the clean and jerk, and finally 145 pound for the snatch.
