The St. Louis varsity golf team had an outstanding performance at Red Hawk golf course in Tawas, Michigan, where they won regionals as a team and Senior Grant Mills qualified for state individually and overall won the whole regional tournament.

The team golfed 18 holes against 19 teams, and Junior Gavin Giles shot a 90, the best he shot ever. Giles stated, “I shot the way I would any other day; I guess I just got lucky.”

The golf team included Freshman Spencer Sherwood, Senior Grant Mills, Juniors Noah Harry, and Luke Harry, and Gavin Giles. Mills shot a 78, Giles shot a 90, (Luke) Harry shot a 95, Sherwood and Junior (Noah) Harry both shot a 99.

Sherwood stated, “Definitely thought we could compete, but I had no idea that first was achievable.”

This is the first time that SLHS has had a team win regional and compete for state. The state meet will be held at Katke Golf Course, Ferris State University, June 7-8..
