News has come out recently that current band director Hannah Livingston will switch positions with current Carrie Knause and Nikkari Elementary music teacher Steve Lawhorne. Lawhorne will take over teaching band students at T.S. Nurnberger Middle School and St. Louis High School while also taking over the responsibilities of the high school jazz band and marching band.

The teachers are expected to start their new positions at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.

Tara Goodell said, “I had both of them as teachers, but the switch doesn’t affect me because I’ll be gone next year.”

Livingston began teaching secondary music education at St. Louis at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. That same year, Lawhorne moved down from the secondary level to teach at the elementary level. Livingston has been teaching at St. Louis for five years now, and Lawhorne will be celebrating his 20th year of teaching music to students next school year.

Dilynn Everitt shared, “I love having Mr. Lawhorne in steel band, and I am excited to have more learning experiences with him, but I am sad to see Ms. Livingston go. She made a big impact on most of the band students, and she will be missed.”
