There are hidden talents in everyone, from dancing and singing, to performing magic tricks to possibly wow an audience. St. Louis High School is full of talented students, and Thursday April 25, students were given the opportunity to showcase these talents.

The following participants were: Danielle Weller, who performed a self-choreographed dance which was contemporary, Modestie Hitchcock and Allison Taipalus also performed a self- choreographed dance with a hint of comedy, Vivica Baxter and Emily Sandel performed a self- choreographed dance. Diamond neph showed a preview of his short film, and the drama club performed a sneak peak of their play which is showing May 10-11. Last but not least, Shannan Mitchell performed a song for the audience.

Mitchell said a few words before her performance, “I’m going up alone and I just really wanted to do it to show people I can sing because a lot of people say that I can’t. I hope to attain more people’s respect when I say I can sing. I don’t really want a lot of attention from it. I don’t plan on using my singing much outside of school. I do sing in church choir but other than that, I don’t really plan on singing outside of school. I’m excited to see Modiste and Ally perform because they’re really funny and they’re doing a dance.”

Taipalus also stated, “My friend and I have always made up fun dances in the past so we decided to enter the talent show for our senior year. I hope to attain some great energy from the crowd and some good laughs at some points that are made to be funny while we are at it. I don’t plan on using my talent outside of school as dancing isn’t something that I want to pursue in a professional state. I am most excited to see Danielle Weller perform because she’s done such a great job the last couple of talent shows, and she is very good at what she does.”

Weller then added, “I hope to go on to dance in college and maybe become a choreographer who travels to other studios. It is hard to use dance as a profession (because) it is either hit or miss. So it depends on how well I do in the future. I am most excited to see Mody and Allison because they are going to have a very funny and exciting performance.”
