October has arrived, which means that spooky season is in full swing! However, some students aren’t as fond of this time of the year as others.
With all of the fun holiday festivities, the question had to be asked: what is the best part about Halloween? The students at St. Louis High School have many different answers to this question. Some student’s favorite part of the holiday is going around town and seeing everybody’s yard and lawn decorations, or even decorating themselves. However, other students are more in favor of dressing up and trick-or-treating with friends.
Do you think high school students are too old to be trick-or-treating? The answer to this question is mixed among students. One student in favor of trick-or-treating is sophomore Olesya Mullins. While Mullins isn’t sure of her costume for this year yet, she is sure that she will be trick-or-treating this Halloween. Mullins loves Halloween and dressing up for the holiday. In fact, she said, “Candy is the best part. I like trick-or-treating with my family. People should give out better candy. The cheap stuff is gross. Name brand is better.” A student less enthusiastic about trick-or-treating is Kalen Lipka. Lipka thinks trick-or-treating is a dangerous concept. He feels asking strangers for candy is not an activity that children should be engaging in.
Another spooky season festivity that people also enjoy every year is decorating. One student very passionate about decorating is senior Rowan Harris. In fact, she said, “I love decorating for Halloween. My house goes all out. I love showing people my decorated house. They find it very interesting. You walk in and just think, ‘Woah did someone die in here?’”
So which is better, trick-or-treating or decorating? The answer may not be clear, but one thing’s for sure, the spooky season will be celebrated at SLHS during Halloween spirit week!
