The varsity girls softball team competed April 11, 2023 at home against Grayling High School. The Sharks lost both games of the double header. The first of the two games ended with a final score of 17 to 6 and the second game was much closer with a final score of 7 to 5.

Freshman Halle Hoyt said, “Well, it didn’t go quite as we planned, but we will keep working hard to fix some little errors that were made. We have a lot of talent on the team and I’m excited to see how the rest of the season plays out.”

The Sharks played hard with many of the athletes getting hits and scoring runs. Payton Kuhn, Miranda Strong, and Izabelle Hrabal all rotated through pitching for part of the games.

The Sharks will be played again April, 19, 2023 at Houghton Lake. Their games started 4:00 pm.

The junior varsity softball team also competed April 11, 2023 against Carson City Crystal at Carson City High School. The JV team is a very young team with seven of the 13 girls being freshmen. Each game they continue to improve and learn more about the game. They won both games with  scores of, 26-4 and 18-0.

Freshman Scottlyn  Fransico said, “We did an amazing job and listened well, I feel like we worked great as a team and it brought us home a win.”

Coach Robin Hanline said, “ Overall I felt the team played pretty good. I was impressed by the number of hits we got as a team. We have been working hard on base running, and I thought we showed improvement in that. Defensively, the girls did a better job at covering bases and being where they’re suppose to be each play. Overall, the girls are improving daily and that is what I ask from them. Looking forward to watching them grow as players.”

The JV competed again April 20, 2023, at New Lothrop High School.
