The Saint Louis High School Band held its annual Pops Concert recently May 17, 2022, under the direction of Stephen Lawhorne in the high school gymnasium, where multiple bands played many well-known songs.

Some of the songs were “No Time to Die” by Billie Eilish, “Rosanna” by Toto, “Lovely” by Steve Wonder and a mashup of Michael Jackson’s songs. According to Blake Ferman, a tenor saxophone in concert and jazz band, “I think the performance was killer. My favorite piece of music that we played was definitely ‘Rosanna’ by Toto.”

Because it was the last concert of the year, Lawhorne announced the yearly band awards at this concert.

Those claiming awards were: Demetrius Alspaugh, Aaron Bowerman, Hannah Bobzien, Elliott Carter, Jazmine Harbor, Korah Honig, Rachel Jewel, Elizabeth Starry, Zachariah Starry, and WIll Tuzas

Hannah Bobzien, an award winner, commented, “I thought it was really funny how the awards got mixed up. I felt very honored that I was selected for this award. I worked ten times harder than I did last year, making it very worth it.”
