Josie Schrot broke the record for most three points made in a season at St. Louis High School Feb. 15, on the road at Michigan Lutheran Seminary. The Lady Sharks were playing in a match-up against the Cardinals when Schrot realized she only needed to make five more threes to break the record. She broke the previous record of 52 and scored 53 that night. The previous record was held by Lynnie Post in 2001- almost 21 years ago!

Coach Doug Knauf stated, “I think Schrot is a big part of our team offensively. She has a great shot, great form, and it is impressive that she already has achieved this record as a sophomore. It shows that she will have a big future.”

Schrot has been a key component on this year’s girls’ basketball team. She averages about 18 points per game. Schot is only a sophomore, so it is going to be interesting to see what she does in future seasons.

Schrot stated, “It feels really great to accomplish something like this. The record hasn’t been broken in 21 years! It really just helped boost my confidence to just keep shooting. I only found out about the record halfway through the season when I realized I was close to breaking it.”

Schrot’s game-high this season is 21 points against Saginaw Valley Lutheran. She scored 14 of those points in the fourth quarter! Schrot added, “In the future, I am aiming to break the entire career record of 3 pointers, not just in a season. Eventually, I hope that I can make my way to reach the 1,000 point record!”

The girl’s varsity team next competes Tuesday, Feb. 22, in an away conference match-up against the Ithaca Yellowjackets. As districts come closer and the season starts to come to an end, it will be exciting to watch Schrot compete in future seasons and just see what she can accomplish!
