The St. Louis boys varsity basketball team hosted a matchup against Bullock Creek, Tuesday, Feb. 8. The game ended in a heartbreaker as the Sharks lost by a free throw in the last couple of seconds of the game. The final score was 49-48.

The Sharks started the game off strong as they finished the first quarter 12-5. They held their momentum; the Sharks went on to finish the first half outsourcing the lancers 22-11. The Sharks only gave up 11 points within the first half.

Leading the Sharks was Ignatious Jackson with 14 points. Kolin Lyon added 13 points and 13 rebounds. Thomas Zacharko had nine points and ten rebounds.

Unfortunately, the Lancers fired back in the second half scoring 38 points, only giving up 26 points to the Sharks.

“Our defense started to get lazy and sloppy, and it cost in the second half. Add on top of that only scoring one point in the last five minutes of the game.” said Coach Nic Gibbons via The St. Louis Sentinel.

Jackson was fouled within the last couple of minutes of the game, with the sharks up by two points. He injured his knee on the play and was replaced with a player on a bench to finish the free throw.

The Sharks next take the court Friday, Feb. 11 at home where they host the Carrollton Cavaliers.
