St. Louis High School hosted the Future Forward College and Career fair, Thursday, Nov. 11. This fair was held so that students could begin to learn and think about their futures more, and really understand what it means to have a successful career that works for them.

The high school cafeteria was where the college portion of the fair was held. There were colleges and universities from all over Michigan! At each station, the students could talk to the college representatives about applications, scholarships, or any questions they had considering a college future. Even some armed forces like the Marines, Air Force, Army, and National Guard were present so the students were not confined to a single option.

Freshman Kaya Munoz said, “My favorite part about the college and career fair was the college part. I feel like it was very beneficial and I learned a lot about some colleges I’m interested in going to. Even though it’s going to be a while until I have to decide, it’s still nice to have these options right now.”

The career portion of the fair was held in the high school gym. The students were able to walk around and talk to different businesses around the area about questions they had. Some businesses were even offering employment opportunities, and it was a great time for students to make an impression and start applying!

There was a lot of staff involved to make the fair actually happen. However, teachers Mrs. Reeves and Mrs. Biehl put a lot of effort and hard work into reaching out to the businesses and colleges while also helping set up the entire fair itself. Their time is very appreciated as the college and career fair seemed to definitely be a success for the students!

Senior Delaney Hitsman stated, “I think that this fair helped students get a better grasp at what they would like to pursue in the future. Being able to talk to colleges and businesses one on one helps a lot when you are not quite sure what your future will look like. I believe that the college portion of the fair was the most beneficial for me since I am a senior, and I know that I would like to go to college, but I am not sure where I would like to go, so it’s nice being able to see a lot of my options and get a better understanding of that college before I jump right into somewhere.”

Whether you’re a freshman or a senior, it’s never too late to start thinking about your future– whether it’s college, the armed forces, or even just a simple job.
