The St. Louis boys and girls took first at the Trent Carter Breckenridge Windmill Invite Saturday Sept. 11.

This was the first race on Breckinridge’s new windmill course. Craig Bebow enjoyed the new location and said, “The course was silly fast with great conditions. I think everyone performed well today.”

The girls’ varsity team had a fantastic day with many season bests, including Abby Dice, Sela Delgado, Jenna Abell, Laney Pestrue, and Payton Kuhn. Munderloh Led the team and the meet with 20:0.78. Just behind was Mikenna Borie with 20:15.82 and Jaiden Dickman with 20:54.47. The Saint Louis girls took a whopping 1-4 and 7-10th place, causing them to score 16 points total.

The boys’ team had a great day with six PR and SRs. Aaron Bowerman finished in second place with 17:20.29. The March boys and Dylan Marr were third through fifth place all finishing within 18 minutes.

This was the first annual Trent Carter Breckenridge Windmill Invite. Trent Carter was a senior at Breckenridge and was well-loved by everyone he knew. He was known for being the life of the party, and sporting his famous mullet and mustache.

The St. Louis Cross had the chance to hang out with and get to know Carter during this year’s cross country camp, and losing him was a big hit to the team. Laney Pestrue said, “I’m so proud of how our teams ran today. I met Trent at cross camp, so it was nice to run in memory of him.” Hunter Saladay was also glad to be able to honor Trent in the meet. “This race was really special because it was dedicated to Trent, and I’m really glad I was able to P.R. for him and his memory,” said Salladay. There were many P.R.s that day due to the nice, flat course, and the newfound fire under the runners to run for Trent.
