The graduation of the class of 2021 was held May 27, 2021, at 7 p.m., at the football field. That was a day to remember. As the clouds filled the sky and everyone was prepared for the rain, Principal Eric Huff was proud to present the graduating class of 2021 to family and friends.

There were smiling faces and tears in everyone’s eyes, as Alexandra Pawlitz got on stage to introduce her best friend and salutatorian, Dilynn Everitt.

Everitt gave a heart-warming speech thanking her parents, grandparents, friends, and peers for making her who she is today. She was proud of her class and what they’ve become. She thanked her best friends Valentina Memije and Alexandra Pawlitz for always being there through thick and thin and shared some stories of theirs. Then, the microphone was passed to Chloe Baxter to introduce Keegan Honig.

Honig, the valedictorian, walked onto the stage and gave a speech that centered on a quote from Tuesdays with Morrie, a book that was read in Mr. Kuhn’s English class. The quote “Don’t let go too soon, but don’t hold on too long,” and this quote has stuck with him his whole high school career. He also repeatedly talked about ion quizzes from Mrs. Beery’s Chemistry class and how “terribly hard” they were.

After Honig, Matt Haag was called to the stage. Haag gave a great speech about his passion for band. He participated in every form of band that was offered to him. He was disappointed that the steel band could not perform due to the weather, but was glad to graduate.

This year was not the ideal senior year for the class of 2021 with COVID-19 continuously canceling special events, but they did it as was proven by the diplomas handed out to signify the end of a chilly but heart-warming ceremony!
