According to Coach Tomanek, The effort was outstanding. He said, “The girls battled great competition and high temperatures. They listened to their coaches and took care of themselves in between events.” He stated, “We left a few points out there in a couple of events, I think we have room to improve point-wise in high jump, pole vault and long jump, but we still performed well in those areas.” He believes the team is very talented and works extremely hard. “I felt like we had a shot at winning, but we went in as underdogs to the host Shepherd team. Our relays and throwing events really put us over the top. I knew we won after the 800-meter run.” Tomanek added, “Mikaila Borie overdid her seed placement by a lot and earned us 3 more points than expected. Then with what we had left in the 3200-meter run and 4×400 relay I knew it was over.” He is extremely proud of his team.
