The St. Louis High School varsity football team played and won its last game of the season against the Hesperia Panthers Oct. 24, 2025, at home on Wheeler Field. It was a bitter-sweet night for the seniors as it was their last high school football game. Aeralyn Leonard, a senior in the student section, stated, “I hope we win. I just want it to be left on a good note.”
The St. Louis Sharks did come out victorious by the score of 44-28. Another senior, Olivia Lane, also in the student section, feels that, “It’s sad. It’s disappointing that the underclassmen tried to take our moment with the barstool and the themes for the games. I can say many of us will miss Friday night lights; however, many of us will not miss the freezing cold bleachers toward the end of the season.”
Merrick Brock, one of the two freshmen on varsity, provided insight on how he felt about the game, saying, “It was exciting, and it was definitely well deserved. After the three-loss streak, our heads were down and it (tonight’s win) definitely picked up the team. The seniors left on a good note,” he added.
Tiger Russell, a senior, said, “I mean it’s sad but at the same time, I’m fortunate enough to be able to go to the next level. My football journey is just getting started.” Karson Tweh, a junior responsible for scoring many touchdowns at the game, said, “I felt great. I feel we could’ve done better on defense, but we did great on offense. I may have scored the touchdowns, but it still took the whole team.” In addition to that, Drew Challender, a senior on the team, stated, “It’s a bittersweet feeling. We got the win, but it’ll probably be my last one. In the end, it’s nothing bigger than a team.” Ryder Siefka, another senior on the team, said, “It’s emotional, and I think that this season was a good one to end on. I felt really good. I think the whole team knew we were going to pull it off humbly.”
