The St. Louis High School National Honor Society partnered with Versiti to host a blood drive in the gym on Sept. 30, 2025.
According to NHS advisor Ms. Kisser, 23 people signed up for the blood drive and a total of 19 successful blood donations were collected. Also, blood drives are hosted each year in September, May, and December.
Elliot Turner, Lily Wing, Gracie Lombard, Lillyana Grollimund, and other NHS members worked to help make the drive a successful one. With parental permission, 16-year-olds can donate blood. Donors who are 17 or older are able to donate without needing to turn in a parent’s permission form.
Other SLHS students chipped in by donating themselves. One first-time donor, Brielle Leonard, said, “It’s nice to do something so easy to help someone. I’m going to do it again. I was expecting something completely different, thought it’d be scary, but it wasn’t. You could tell the workers were doing something good for others”.
For those students wanting to donate or work, SLHS will be hosting another blood drive in December.
