The St. Louis High School Languages Art Club met October 7, 2025 in Mrs. Kaiser’s room during lunch. The club will be meeting every other week on Tuesdays during lunch in Kaiser’s room. The meeting will introduce a combination of prompts and writing workshops. One week, members will be given a prompt by Kaiser and have the entire lunch period to write. During the next meeting, members will bring a piece of their writing to receive feedback and hopefully become better writers. Kaiser expresses her expectations for the club, “I would like to see them trying out different genres and improving their writing.”
The Language Arts club, or the writing club, was formed after the Language Arts team expressed that they were interested in expanding into a club. The Language Arts team competes once a month in Ithaca for writing competitions against other schools’ teams. Some goals Kaiser has for the Language Arts team are, “To collaborate on our writing, and to score high on our competitions in Ithaca.”
Kaiser, who already has Student Council, GSA, and Book Club meetings in her room during lunch, is also hosting the writing team in her room every other Tuesday during lunch. Kaiser chose to create the club, “because the students wanted it, and I didn’t want to let the students down.”
The members are all freshmen: Lexi Kinder, Caleigh McCaraver, and Keila Alvarado Hernandez. Kinder expresses, “I get to better my writing skills with a bunch of my friends by practicing writing a bunch of stories under pressure.” One of the other members, McCarver, gives her insight on what she hopes her improvement will be, thanks to the writing club. “To get better at writing in the way that prompts will help me come up with stories better. The different prompts also help me write in different genres than what I’m used to.”
