Benson Boone has been the topic of conversations around the students of Saint Louis High School.
Benson Boone is a 22-year-old American singer-songwriter and musician. He was born June 25, 2002. He first gained recognition through TikTok and competed on American Idol but withdrew from the show. He would like to be mostly known for his hit songs, “Ghost Town” “Room For 2”, and “In the Stars”. However, recently he has gained recognition from his new song “Mystical Magical.”
Being an ex-Mormon, his actions are quite odd to the people viewing his concerts. He has the habit to repeatedly back flip, wear sequin jumpsuits, and make insufferable songs. One junior at SLHS states that he rather sit in silence and never listen to music again than listen to Benson Boone’s music. “His song is like taking an ice pick to your ear. I am not trying to be dramatic, but I quite literally hate his music. It feels like it’s a social experiment to see if AI songs would be a good idea. What in the world is ‘Moon Beam Ice Cream’? Some of the lyrics to that song feel AI Generated and I cannot understand why people like it so much,” states Ben Godfrey.
The lyrics Godfrey is referring to are: “Moonbeam ice cream, taking off your blue jeans, Dancing at the movies, ’cause it feels so mystical, magical.” It isn’t hard to see the point of view of someone imagining it’s an AI Generated song.
Despite the irrational hate for Boone, there are some out there who genuinely enjoy his music. “I like his music because his songs are good. I know a lot of people don’t like his music but they’ve only heard his popular songs, which are not good in my opinion. I would recommend the songs ‘Ghost Town’ and ‘Drunk in my Mind’ because they are my favorites. I feel like he doesn’t deserve all the hate he gets. People are so quick to hate on someone just because it isn’t their norm. Like just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean you have to hate on someone,” Gracie Lombard protests.
Boone has quickly risen as a prominent figure in contemporary pop music, captivating audiences with his vocal skills and relatable lyrics. His journey from social media stardom to mainstream success highlights his innate musical talent and genuine connection with fans. With a growing discography and an expanding fanbase, he is poised to leave a mark on the music industry for years to come.
