The St. Louis High School boy’s golf team competed in regionals Tuesday, May 27, in Frankenmuth at the Fortress. They finished their season playing a tough course struggling with their scores. Senior Jayden DuBois-Kleinhans led with a 94 ending his high school golf career.
Junior Tiger Russell stated, “In order to compete in states, you have to score a low 70 and the kid that won shot a 68. I scored a 113 in regionals, but I did pretty well compared to shooting a 141 from the beginning of the season.” Russell then said, “I plan to get out and play on courses and go to ranges over the summer to get ready for next year’s season. I need to get ready to drop down to division four next year.”
Coach Giles commented, “Individually, we are a young team, but everyone got better throughout the year compared to the beginning of the year. They all lowered their scores and all got personal bests at some point in the season.” Coach then added, “As a team we are all looking forward to next year’s season because a lot of the guys are golfing over the summer to prepare for next season and to get better.”
Sophomore Jamison DeBolt stated, “I don’t think I did very well in regionals. I scored a 104 and I kept slicing the ball.” DeBolt then said, “I plan to go to second seed next year, and to prepare for next year’s season, I am going golfing quite a bit this summer and hitting at the range.”
Overall, it is safe to say that all the boys are sad that the season has come to an end but are excited to prepare this summer to do great at next year’s season. They all have goals to achieve next year.
