Recently, students working hard or hardly working have been looking forward to the end of the school year. As a bonus to this anticipation, St. Louis High School was given a grant to attend the Great Lakes Loons game Friday, May 3, 2025. Students were driven to Dow Diamond where they got to enjoy a thrilling baseball game and an even better stadium.
“I enjoyed the game! I’d prefer it if it were a different game, but it’s just my opinion. I’d like to watch volleyball or soccer, even,” said freshman Victoria Trevino. “I think it was a good incentive for SLHS students. It got everyone out of classrooms, allowing them to relax, interact with one another, and not feel the stress of school. I think maybe doing more incentives, possibly once a semester, can help people not feel so stressed about school work and help the students relax a bit more,” she added.
Sophomore Johnny Rodriguez said, “I enjoyed the Loons game. It was a lot of fun being with my classmates watching the Loons play. I’m slightly a fan of the baseball game. I believe that this was a proper incentive for the students of SLHS because it gave them the opportunity to experience something outside of school grounds that some students have never experienced before. I think that we should do an incentive like this every year, but I do like the idea of having an incentive once every year or once every marking period.”
Junior Hayden Mader said, “It was fun to get out of school and hangout with my friends for the day. I think this was a good incentive. We’ve done well enough for it over the school year. I don’t think we should do an incentive every semester, but I do think we should have one big event everyone can look forward to yearly.”
