That time of year has come when seniors begin to think about what they will be doing when they move on from the walls of St. Louis High School. The class wishes to make lasting memories and an impact on the school as a whole with some old traditions such as the countdown and some new ones such as the infamous senior assassin game.
The concept of senior assassin is a game in which those who participate use the Senior Splashin app and wait until the day arrives when everyone who opts in gets a target. Typically in a tournament-like game, it is played off premises while players try to eliminate each other by spraying one another with water. The last person standing is the winner. without the protection of goggles or floaties, getting hit by water means that person is out.
The idea of starting this senior tradition was created by senior Dillon Downs. There were many seniors who participated, one being, Kaydence Heiden. Heiden said, “I feel like it is a good way to get our class together. You have cliques that are on their own, so having a game like this brings everyone together. Especially during senior year when this is our last year to make memories together. Having that one game everyone can be together one last time.” She continued, “After seeing how popular the event is on social media and other schools, it is a great activity as a final year activity to make memories as a class.
Additionally, there is no senior year without the senior countdown indicating the time left before seniors are graduating and moving on to bigger and better things. The countdown is located in the senior hallway. The teacher in charge, Mrs. Biehl, said, “I feel like time has flown by! I cannot believe it is already April, and there’s already 18 days until the seniors are gone. I’m sad to see them go, but I’m proud of how far they’ve come.” She added, “I know each and every one of them are financially ready for the world. Yes, they’ll be forever learning what’s to come, but I can confidently say they are ready for what comes next.”
With new events coming along, this opens a new window of opportunity for future classes to make extra memories. This also gives the chance to start new traditions, take chances, and make mistakes.
