In a few days the most amazing event for many high schoolers will be taking place. The juniors of St. Louis High School will be hosting the 2025 “Sugar Rush Soiree” prom! It will be taking place at Alma College Heritage Center Saturday 26th starting at 7:00.
For students, prom is more than a big dance. Prom is often seen as a significant event because it marks a milestone for many high school students. It’s a chance to dress up, celebrate with friends, and create lasting memories. Plus, it’s a culmination of years of hard work and a way to celebrate the end of a chapter before moving onto a new adventure.
Many students are extremely excited for this event and are taking their own preparations for this event. While girls are planning nail appointments, hair appointments and other feminine beauty appointments, the guys are choosing their suits and ties.
Sophomore Elliot Turner is already planning out her week’s appointments. “I am getting my hair done. It is really nothing special, it’s just an updo. After that my friend Brielle Leonard is going to be doing my nails. I am really excited. I heard it was a lot of fun last year plus it’s an excuse to dress pretty and dance with friends,” Turner exclaims.
For girls at SLHS, getting dressed up for prom is important to them because it’s a special occasion that allows girls to express themselves and their personal styles. It can be a fun and memorable experience to pick out a dress with family or friends, get hair and makeup done, and feel glamorous for the night. It’s also a chance to create lasting memories with friends and capture the moments in photos.
For the boys at SLHS, this is a time to celebrate with friends about the near end of high school. It’s an opportunity to dress up in a suit or tuxedo and feel confident. It’s a night to enjoy music, dancing, and socializing with classmates.
Benjamin Godfrey plans to spend his prom with one of his best friends Hayden Mader.
“I am absolutely excited for senior prom. I can’t wait, especially because my outfit will be insane. No I don’t have a date with me but I will be hanging out with Hayden Mader beforehand and we’ll eat at Culver’s. For sure I’m definitely gonna have a better outfit next year than this year, trust,” Godfrey states.
Whether you are hanging with friends, a partner, or just staying at home, prom is a time to be celebrated. Make new memories, enjoy the night, and cherish these moments as they will become some of the most memorable times in life.
