As the days grow longer, the air becomes warmer, and nature awakens from its slumber bursting into bright colors and life, Spring is finally here after a long winter. For students, spring often marks a fresh start, a time to recharge and embrace new opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.
With this sense of renewal, students who have felt worn out by the winter season may find themselves full of energy and ready to dive into projects and assignments with a better perspective. Junior Harlee Dowd said, “I would say it was a great transition from winter to spring. The warmer weather is nice especially after the consistent snow fall through the transition. I don’t really miss anything about the cold winter season but I am excited for Easter so I can spend time with family and friends. As it turns to spring, I start to feel the school days go by slower, but that is because the days are going by slower.”
While the temperature changes, it isn’t just about the warmer weather, but it’s also time for spring sports to start up again! Athletes who have a love for this season’s sports, whether it is baseball, softball, track, or golf, are excited to get back out and play more games with their teams. Athlete and senior Rebekah Ross has been participating in softball for over ten years and said, “When coming back to the sport, the main thing I wanted to focus on was my attitude. My attitude has always not been the best when it comes to messing up in my sports, but luckily, I’ve been able to improve it slowly and surely. It feels really good to get back on the field. To be honest, I was planning on quitting softball this year because even though I’m a senior, I wanted to be on JV because I fit in better with the environment. Once I started practicing with Mrs. Hanline again, I realized just how much I enjoy the game”
Ross also said, “The biggest challenge during the off-season is definitely keeping the motivation to come back. My main sport is equestrian, and though I love softball, I enjoy riding my horses more, and coming back to softball can be difficult knowing I’m giving up time to practice with my horse. As for school, the school days are starting to fly by. Being a senior, high school is really starting to feel like it’s speeding up, and even though I hate school, I’m starting to realize how much I’m going to miss it.”
In conclusion, spring is a time to embrace change, challenge, and growth. With the arrival of warmer weather and the excitement of spring sports, students are given the perfect opportunity to refocus and finish out the school year strong. The season serves as a reminder that, just like nature, students too can bloom and evolve when they put in the effort.
