The class of 2025 has started their senior assassin Monday Apr, 7 at 3 p.m. Anyone who signed up was assigned a student as their target. Assassins have to find their target outside of school, not wearing goggles or blown up floaties, and spray them with a water gun, record a video, and post it on the app.
Events like the recent purge allow students to squirt anyone, no matter who they are. They can be someones set target or someone completely random. Other events, like a revive allow for those who are out to get back in. To do this, the player must go to a random location and claim the revive.
One of the participants in the senior assassin, Landon DeLong, said, “I feel good about being a senior assassin because it’s a fun activity, and if it does become a tradition, then it could become more fun for other grades. I do think that other grades will do it because the seniors already have heard how fun it sounds from juniors and sophomores.” There’s a chance other classes will take senior assassins and make it a tradition here at SLHS. DeLong continued, “I didn’t get my target, but I did get someone else out during the purge. I also was eliminated during the purge, and it just kind of sucked, but I got a revive and made it back into the game.”
Another participant, Bethany Bowerman, comments on her experience in senior assassin saying, “I loved being involved in the tradition of senior assassin because it’s yet another opportunity to have school spirit and have some friendly competition amongst my peers. I believe this tradition will carry on for many years because it’s a fun game. and it’s relatively new instead of other older traditions.” She continued with, “In the very first round, I was eliminated by Kiernan, who was my target in the parking lot. I was extremely angry because I had been trying to get Kiernan out for the entire week, and the dog would not take off his goggles. So when I was eliminated, I was furious but also relieved because I didn’t have to worry if someone was going to stalk me.”
Senior assassin has been a great way for the class of 2025 to have fun. It’s allowed students who normally wouldn’t interact with each other have fun together. This new event helps create lasting memories for everyone involved and brings new opportunities for the future classes to create more memories before eventually moving on to bigger and better things.
