St. Louis High School juniors and seniors both attended a career fair at Alma High School Feb. 13, 2025.
Students were advised to dress professionally while also preparing resumes for possible employers. The career fair offered agriculture, architecture, construction, energy, finance, human services, law, and public safety opportunities, and allowed students to be able to interact with different companies face-to-face.
Junior Lillian Billings shared her experience with the fair, stating, “I thought that it was super cool because I liked the one we had last year at our school. I had to update my resume to prepare myself better and print some copies so I would actually be able to hand them out to people. My experience was very fun. I thought it was very cool meeting some future employers and getting some merch. It did help me find a job I want to work with when I graduate.”
Senior Landon Pestrue also attended the career fair, sharing, “I expected quite a few things from the career fair, including many of the job opportunities that there would be there to talk to us about. For the event itself, I made sure to get a nice outfit, including some khakis and a quarter-zip, and just tried to prepare myself to talk to so many people. For my experience, I thought the fair went very well. I talked to multiple individuals representing potential jobs I could land by the time I finish college with a degree in mechanical engineering. I feel like the best part was receiving free snacks and gifts from each of the job stations we would visit. From this experience, I learned that it’s important to talk to those who could potentially land you a job in the future. Learning how the work environments run is also another thing that’s important to note.” Pestrue also walked away with an electric toothbrush that he won after guessing the correct amount of mini toothbrushes in a jar.
