Being a superhero isn’t always sunshine and rainbows; even heroes have struggles, just like everyone else. This theme is shown at its best with the new season of Invincible, which originally premiered Feb. 6 with three episodes. The episode-episode miniseries showcased the reality of having heroes in the real world.
Season three of Invincible showcases the aftermath of Mark Grayson’s (Invincible’s) actions and failures in the first two seasons of the show. Losing to Viltrimites, reconciling with being unable to save the thousands of people killed during he and his dad’s fight in Chicago, and raising his alien little brother with his mother are all just a fraction of the problems Invincible has to deal with in the new season. He also has to navigate the balance of being a human and a superhero at the same time. Devanz Svelti-Cruz stated, “I like how the season tackles Mark’s struggles after his fight with his dad, especially with Powerplex’s character forcing Mark to deal with the consequences of failing to save his family and showing the effect of collateral damage from the big flashy superhero battles!”
Benjamin Godfrey stated, “I love the new season, and I like how funny it is. But I do wish they strived away from the relationships Mark already has with people and focused more on new connections from different people. For example, I know there’s only been one episode about Allan and Omniman, but I wish there was more of it. Overall, though, I’m excited for the rest of the season to come out, and I can’t wait because the next episodes are supposed to be very action packed.”
With the season finale on the horizon, students at St. Louis are excited to see where things go and how things are wrapped up
