The 67th Annual GRAMMYs took place this week Feb. 2, featuring performances from many different musical creators and the annual awards ceremony.
The GRAMMYs featured 16 performances from Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” Charli Xcx’s “Guess,” Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.” The performances were a great way to start the GRAMMYs and kick off the most anticipated part of the show; the awards ceremony.
At the awards ceremony, Chappell Roan won Best New Artist. Sabrina Carpenter won Best Pop Solo Performance with “Espresso,” and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga won Best Duo/Group Pop Performance with their song “Die With A Smile.” Other than pop performances, Kendrick Lamar won 5 GRAMMYs for his song “Not Like Us.” He won “Record of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Best Music Video,” “Best Rap Song,” and “Best Rap Performance,” all for one song! Senior Damian Rosenberger stated, “The song was really good when it was released and is one of the greatest diss-tracks of all time.” The Beatles won Best Rock Performance for their song “Now and Then.” Doechii won Best Rap Album.
During the awards ceremony, Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter made history, winning her first “Album Of The Year award” and becoming the first black woman ever to take home a golden gramophone in Best Country Album. Despite this, many people believed that she did not deserve the win. For example, Lily Wing stated, “Beyoncé did not deserve to win her GRAMMY. Her country songs weren’t even real country.”
Despite the controversy, the 2025 GRAMMYs were one of the greatest in recent times, uniting the music world with performances of all sorts as well as history-making achievements in the form of awards!
