Students and staff at Saint Louis High School are anticipating Netflix’s returning hit Wednesday.
Wednesday is an American supernatural mystery comedy television series based on the character Wednesday Addams by Charles Addams. Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, it stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday. Season one originally premiered Nov. 16, 2022. Season one revolved around Wednesday Addams, and her attempts to solve a murder mystery at her new school.
Season two has been in speculation ever since the ending of season one. Now, after a near three-year absence, Netflix released a teaser trailer for the new season Jan. 30, 2025. Additionally, Netflix has announced this new season will arrive later in 2025.
Students are looking forward to the new season. Junior Gracie Lombard stated, “I’m very excited for the new season. I really like the first season. I think it will live up to the expectations. They have a great cast and good writers so I hope it turns out just as good, if not better than the first season altogether”
Even staff at SLHS are anticipating this new season. Mrs. Kaiser stated, “There have been so many adaptations of Wednesday. Some people have their favorites, whereas I think it is fun how someone else might change the character slightly. I grew up with Christina Ricci playing Wednesday and absolutely loved her. It was really special to me that she was part of this new adaptation and played a character alongside Wednesday in this version. So I guess I do believe that her depiction is accurate, but they all put a little bit of their own twist on her. Overall, I have recommended it to quite a few of my friends. It has drama, it has humor, and it has mystery. A little something for different people.”
