The top 10 academic students for the class of 2025 were officially announced are as follows: Landon Pestrue as valedictorian, Kaya Munoz as salutatorian, Elizabeth Starry, Annabelle Breen, Elizabeth Burt, Rebekah Ross, Colin Kuhn, Lauren Devine, Kerregan Wilson, and Zoey Clark.
“I would assume being recognized for this could bring a higher chance to earn certain scholarships, especially those with an academic focus, as well as being a good feature on resumes and applications in general,” said senior salutatorian Kaya Munoz. As far as advice for others, “I would say focusing on just getting work done is a good first step, as time management and cramming to get work done last minute has always been one of my biggest stressors. Feeling more sure that I’ll be able to simply get through the week and get my work done helps me think about what I can do to actually improve that work and make sure I’m properly understanding the material. But being held to too high of a standard can also impact work, which is why some days I will simply focus on getting things done as soon as I can so I can be more recharged for the rest of my later work,” Munoz added.
“It feels great knowing that my hard work has paid off throughout high school, and I honestly did not fully expect to win knowing it was a competitive class this year,” said senior valedictorian Landon Pestrue. “To stay motivated and on top of my assignments, I often plan ahead to get them done earlier in the week. If they’re done earlier, I’ll have much more free time when school is over for the week. As for the lowerclassmen, I encourage them to start practicing making a plan for every coming week, and go off of it so they can’t forget assignments and get them done on a specific schedule. I personally use this advice the most I can, and it has worked really great for me,” he added.
