Students will have the opportunity to attend a career fair at Alma High School Feb. 13, 2025.
There will be many different job options to explore at the event, such as agriculture, architecture, construction, energy, finance, human services, and law and public safety. Students will be able to engage with different companies. If there’s a connection between the student and the company, the student will be given a raffle ticket to fill out and possibly win prizes. Students should bring multiple copies of resumes so that they can give them to the companies they connected with. Dressing professionally is important if students want to leave a good first impression on the employers.
There will be a variety of schools at this career fair, with an estimated 1,100 students attending. Mrs. Biehl, a teacher here at Saint Louis High School said, “This is a great opportunity for students to talk to potential employers. Students should make sure to take copies of their resume to leave with any employers they are interested in working with. I love helping people with resumes and would be happy to help anyone who is interested in making one or updating a previous one!” The career fair will give students a special opportunity to connect with companies outside of an official interview.
Senior Devanz Svelti-Cruz said, “I plan on going to the career fair, and I’m interested in the agricultural and architectural jobs that are being offered there. The ones that piqued my interest the most were Star of the West Milling Company and Carpenters Local 706. Star of the West Milling Company really caught my attention because they are a main supplier of flour, dry beans, and food-grade soybeans. Working there would help expand my knowledge of different types of flour and beans and their different uses. I’m interested in Carpenters Local 706 because carpentry has been an interest of mine since I was a child.”
