Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA, is an application the seniors fill out to inform the government of their financial status, granting them access to potential grants towards colleges. Students met in the high school library for a meeting to learn the door prizes alongside the FAFSA application Dec. 10, 2025.
“Basically, it is an application that seniors fill out that gives the government insight on your financial standings, and how much you could afford to pay for college. The government then takes that insight and gives you a certain amount of grants or loans to help pay for things in college. I was super excited for the event! I think it would give a good opportunity to help seniors and their families who are not that good with technology, or just wanted some advice and tips for filling out this application. However, I was most excited for the door prizes,” said senior Rebekah Ross. Alongside the prizes was a fun activity, allowing students to roll the dice and potentially get larger prizes. “There were door prizes like headphones and air pods, gift cards, small games, speakers, and even an iPad and TV. I believe that this will benefit me in the future because not only does it help me pay for college, but when I go to fill this form out again, I will know how to. Same with now, it’ll help me pay for college, and I believe that my whole grade will feel this effect,” she added.
“I think that FAFSA was a wonderful opportunity for those who plan to go to college. Having a place to be able to obtain some money for scholarships that would help someone with their future endeavors is a great idea. This is the first year they’ve done this, but I do hope they continue this for future years. The amount of people this will help is immense,” says senior Alexandria Tatroe. “Not only do I think this event will benefit my grade as a whole, but future classes to come. Having a small lifeline like this is enough to help solidify the chances of someone’s future enough to make their life dreams come true. Whether it be to go to a community college or a higher league, just having the idea or comfort of some sort of support can help bring dreams to reality,” she added.
