Students at the Saint Louis High School are talking about a returning hit.
Squid Game is a survival thriller series on Netflix, which is a Korean show based on competitors fighting for their life for a huge cash prize. It was created by Korean television producer and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk. This season stars Lee Jung-Jae, who plays Seong Gi-hun in the show. This season was released on Netflix on Dec. 26, 2024.
Set three years after the first season, the story focuses on Seong Gi-hun’s life after winning the first Squid Game. After finding out about another game, he once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death with new participants gathered to win the prize of $31.1 million.
Within the first three days of release, the second season had 68 million views, exceeding the highest viewership for Netflix held by the first season of Wednesday at 50.1 million views during its premiere week. According to Netflix, the season ranked first in 92 countries. The season gained positive reviews from critics all over.
Students at the SLHS are also giving good reviews about the series. “Overall I really enjoyed watching the show,” stated Sophomore Hudsyn Humble. “I really like mystery shows, and this one was insane. I wish there was more. I really am excited to see season three when it comes out.”
“Personally, I never really was interested in the show,” stated Sophomore Lily Wing, “but recently, my brother started watching it with me, and overall it was pretty good. It’s definitely a tense show though.”
The third and final season is confirmed to be released in 2025, which was filmed back-to-back with the second season.
