The junior varsity bowling teams competed, Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Pins, in Ithaca. Both teams worked hard and showed great sportsmanship throughout the whole game. The next time both of the JV teams will be playing is Friday, Jan. 10, at Northern Lanes, in Sanford.
JV 1 playing a close game which ended in Mt. Pleasant winning by half a point. Sophomore Bradynn Overla said, “As a team, I believe we could have bowled better, but individually I believe I held my ground and did what I needed to do. However, I started getting worried when we were down by 3 1/2 points. It came down to one bowler in the 10th frame and unfortunately, he tied with his opponent and that cost us the match. There isn’t really a way to practice bowling under pressure, except for just practicing a lot. Overall, as a team we need to work on our ball speed and not backhanding the ball.” Overla and his teammates worked hard showing a positive attitude and sportsmanship toward each other and the other team.
On the other team, JV 2 also fought a hard game against Mt. Pleasant’s second JV team where they also lost but worked hard and received great scores with some ranging over 100. Freshman Addyson Hales led her team with the highest score. Another bowler who had one of the highest scores was senior Bryan Wing, who said, “Overall, I believe my team did alright at best, it definitely wasn’t anywhere near our best performance but I believe that we can definitely improve in the next game.” Wing encouraged and cheered on each of his teammates throughout the game bringing positivity to the game and even giving them a pep talk when he realized things weren’t looking too good for their team.
Overall, both JV teams put in their best effort and had a great time being with their teammates and showing great sportsmanship toward each other and the other bowling teams around them. Both teams will be competing at Northern Lanes in Sanford Friday, Jan. 10.
