The St. Louis girls varsity basketball team took on Carrollton at home Monday, Jan.6, and they held the lead the whole game, which ended in a score of 58-2, all the girls worked hard leading to every girl on the team scoring.
Senior Brynn Saxton said, “I think I did okay at the game. There is always something that I can improve at each game.” She also added, “I believe the team did good, everyone got a chance to be out on the court, and everyone made an impact on the score which is great. Something that we can improve for the next game is communication to help each other out on the court.”
Another senior Zoey Clarke said, “As a player, individually, I think there was definitely some things I could have done better overall, but for the most part, it went okay. As a team, I thought it was really great to see everyone get some playing time and have everyone score at least a point.” Clarke added, “It was a very good night for some of our girls. As always, something we can definitely improve on is finishing our layups and having overall better defense.”
Sophomore Courtney VanAlstine said, “I would say I did pretty good at the game personally. I was happy with making both of my free throws. I also think the team did great as a whole. We went in knowing it was going to be a good game and that it was just an opportunity to play more of our plays and practice for tougher games.” She also added, “We could improve on our defense and to not turn the ball over so many times as in better control of the ball for games to come.”
Overall, it is obvious that the girls were happy with the game and how it ended. It was a pretty good game and they are ready to take on Harrison Thursday Jan. 9, at home.
