Sonic The Hedgehog 3 was released to the world Dec. 25, 2024, and almost instantly took over the box office with $187 million opening weekend! Worldwide and locally, the movie is a family movie for people of all ages.
The movie was a hit for all ages and explored the darker side of the sonic universe as it was based on Sonic Adventure 2. The main antagonists: Shadow the Hedgehog, Ivo Robotnic and Gerald Robotnic were the stars of the movie as fan-favorite characters since their inception in the early 90s. The movie showed audiences the backstory to Gerald and Shadow and what led to their villainous turn towards darkness and their quest for revenge!
Students at St. Louis High School were ecstatic about the release of Sonic 3. For example, Sophomore Bryce Buchanan was ecstatic about the release of the movie saying he, “Loved the introduction of my favorite character and the end credit scene introduced two more characters for the next movie that I can’t wait to see!”
Senior Elliot Carter stated, “Overall, I thought the movie had excellent, great action scenes. My main critique is the style of humor used. I found most scenes where a character cracked a joke or attempted a funny line just missed the mark entirely. Still an amazing movie and would highly recommend seeing it.”
Overall, Sonic 3 was an incredible success both worldwide and locally. Many people and still students at SLHS are very excited to see the next movie after the success of Sonic !
