Fortnite is going back in time for the third time! The release of OG Fortnite occurred Dec. 6th, again. After the loss of over 5 million players over the course of Fortnite Chapter Five, Epic Games released a hail mary in order to try and wrangle in as many old players as possible to get them to stay.
OG Fortnite has come and gone twice already with players being able to revisit the Chapter One and Chapter Two Remix maps. However, they only lasted for a month, resulting in a lot of hype but players not sticking around to continue playing afterwards. This time fortunately, it will be a permanent mode with it’s own separate monthly battlepass separate from the mainline battlepass. Players will be able to play a different Chapter One season all throughout the year with each season lasting a month.
After all ten seasons run their course, it is rumored that the player base is going to have the opportunity to return to Chapter Two and experience those seasons similar to the way Chapter One plays out. Seniors Jayden DuBois Kleinhans and Elliot Carter who played Fortnite during Chapter One back in 2017 stated that they were both very excited for the new season and their expectations were low so it did not disappoint.
However, Elliot Turner said, “OG Fortnite feels bland compared to the current chapter,” which is a common complaint among fans that think that unlike the current Chapter 6, there isn’t much for newer players to enjoy about the map because they don’t have the fond memories of the OG chapter that the original 2017 players had.
Despite the differences, all players are having a blast with Fortnite and it seems the future of the game is getting brighter! OG Chapter One Season One is set to end on Jan. 1, 2024, and after that shift, players will be able to experience season two.
